Introduction to Ply-Split Braiding
Louise French, Instructor
Ply-split
braiding was introduced to England and the United States by Peter
Collingwood. Used for centuries by men in northeast India to make girths
for their camels, we use this technique to make a variety of decorative, rather
than functional, items. Participants will learn the basic “splits” by
making a sampler key ring and a necklace. Students will also have the
opportunity to make cords for future projects.
